Deirdre Bean

Deirdre Bean is a painter with international awards for her botanical illustrations. In 2016 she was awarded a PhD (Natural History Illustration) for research on Australia’s mangroves species.

Since 2020, Bean has concentrated on oil painting and has been a finalist in the Muswellbrook Art Prize, the Calleen Art Award, and winner of the Gallipoli Art Prize 2022.

 

In 2021, Bean held her landmark exhibition, Springwater, at SDFA comprising her first body of work dedicated to oil painting.

 

Bean is best known for her attention to detail and fine representational style.
