About the Country Energy Art Prize :
Now in its eighth year, the $35,000 Country Energy Art Prize for Landscape Painting showcases the wealth of artistic talent across country and coastal New South Wales while contributing to the visual arts industry. It is Australia's richest annual landscape art prize, attracting entries from previous Archibald and Blake Prize winners to first time entrants.
The 2010 prize attracted entries from across New South Wales of which 43 finalists were selected by Jenny Turpin, Chris Gentle and Joe Eisenberg. Wendy Teakel's winning entry Black Soil Country was selected by judge Janet Laurence.
The Countryscapes 2010 exhibition of finalist artworks is now on exhibition at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery in Port Macquarie and is open for public viewing until 28 November 2010.
